About MABAC-CDD
MABAC-CDD was developed to assess the maladaptive behaviors of children with developmental disabilities across different domains of problem behaviors. Post assessment of maladaptive behaviors those domains; sub-domains and set of items can be taken up as part of intervention plan.
In light of the unavailability of an updated or comprehensive assessment tools with Indian standardization for children with developmental disabilities, we developed a tool that can be used by special educators, developmental psychologists, behavioral therapists, and other allied professionals.
The checklist could be used for assessment, evaluation, and intervention planning in different domains and sub-domains of maladaptive behaviors for children with neuro-developmental disorders. The checklist will be able to guide them to assess and to plan for intervention of children with developmental disabilities.

Beneficial Key Features
Early Identification of Issues
It enables professionals to identify maladaptive or disruptive behaviors early, which is crucial in mitigating the escalation of behavior/ conduct issues, especially in individuals who struggle with developmental challenges or have adopted a dysfunctional coping mechanism overtime.
Culturally Relevant Insights
An assessment tool tailored for the Indian context can account for cultural specificities, including family dynamics, societal expectations, and traditional beliefs. This relevance enhances the accuracy of the tool in identifying behaviors that may be overlooked in a generic assessment.
Behavior specific Interventions
Child centric behavior modification strategies can be designed for schools or therapeutic settings using the insight and understanding of the aspects related to the maladaptive behaviors impacting an individual which is culturally suitable too.
Enhanced Academic Performance
Behavioral issues often lead to disruptions in educational environments. By identifying and addressing maladaptive behaviors, students are more likely to engage positively with their education, ultimately improving academic performance and reducing dropout rates.
Promoting Mental Health Awareness
Utilizing a formal maladaptive behavior assessment tool can foster a culture of mental health awareness in schools, homes, and communities. It encourages discussions around mental well-being and helps reduce stigma associated with mental health issues.
Support for Caregivers & Educators
Such assessment tools can empower teachers and parents with knowledge and strategies to manage and support individuals displaying maladaptive behaviors. Training workshops can facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, thereby enhancing the support system.
