About Special Education
Special education refers to the instruction and support designed for children with special needs, such as disabilities, disorders, or exceptionalities. The primary goal of special education is to provide children with the skills, knowledge, and strategies necessary to succeed in school and beyond. Special educators providers support for regular classroom, separate or specialized classroom, resource centres or home based setups.
They use Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to tailor plans outlining specific goals, objectives, and strategies for each child as per their needs, abilities post assessment, observation and evaluation. They are teachers/ educators who are specialised to work, train children and adults with special needs to reach their optimal level of functioning in their activities of daily living, activities of adult living, academics, pre-vocational and vocational rehabilitation/ prospects etc.
